Our story began 40+ years ago when we first visited the quaint fishing village of Ocracoke at the southern end of the Outer Banks, and continues today with our ongoing pilgrimages to, and continuing fascination with the sights, legend, and lore that is the Outer Banks. We live on a tributary of Great Lake Ontario, yet we frequently visit the Outer Banks, having a special attraction to Ocracoke Island a short ferry ride south from Hatteras…or a much longer journey from the Swan Quarter docks. Some might say we’re blessed with having ‘the best of both worlds’…and we couldn’t agree more. As we love the beauty of the ‘big waters’ and enjoy artistic crafting during the long cold Northeast winters, we frequently visit these shores in search of treasures deposited by Mother Nature. On a past trip, as we walked the tidal flats to gather shells, driftwood, and other materials washed up along Pamlico Sound’s shoreline, we thought of enhancing Mother Nature’s inherent beauty by capturing the mystique of the Outer Banks, and majesty of her Guardian Lights on the natural shapes, forms, and surface contours of these materials to create one of a kind artistic renderings. Hence was born ‘Outer Banks Creations’, a partnership with Mother Nature committed to crafting her natural treasures into beautiful memories of this most special place.
